Custom Leather Dog Collars
You will find these collars on every dog in our kennel. Leather is smooth against a dog's neck and will not pull hair like a lot of nylon collars. This also helps the collar rotate around your dog's neck when you cue with a checkcord, thus maintaining a consistent point of contact.
Having trouble heeling you dog? The Command Lead is a great way to teach your dog to heel calmly on a loose lead!
A good check cord makes a world of difference when you are training your dog! This rope is manufactured specifically for our family and is the only check cord that we use when we are training dogs.
Puppy Development I Setting Your Pup Up For Success
This video was created by Ronnie Smith and his cousin, Rick Smith, to aid new puppy owners in raising their puppy. This video is full of good tips, from housebreaking and trimming toenails to beginning your puppy on the table. The steps outlined will aid in developing a well behaved dog that is easy to train and a pleasure to be around.
Puppy Development II
Introduction to the Field Building on the elements of Puppy Development I, this video shows safe and reliable methods of introducing puppies to the field, birds, retrieving, and the gun. These are the skills that are necessary in preparing your puppy for formal training.
The Silent Command System: Volume 1
The Silent Command System is the method of training which was developed by the Smiths. This video by Rick & Ronnie Smith gives an overview of the first leg of formal training, the Foundation Level. Topics covered during the Foundation Level of training include developing points of contact through the use of the Command Lead, Check Cord, and Whoa Post. Rick and Ronnie also show the benefits of using a Stake Out Chain during your dog’s workouts. At this level Rick and Ronnie will demonstrate how to successfully checkcord your dog in to birds and how to help your dog to begin to learn to work scent. With a solid foundation, you can easily train your dog to be the best bird dog that he or she can be.
The Silent Command System: Volume 2
This video is the second stage of formal training in the Smith’s training and will continue from the Silent Command System I Foundation DVD. This video shows you how to take the skills developed during your Foundation workouts and begin applying them in less controlled environments. You will learn how to transition from the mechanical cue of a rope to the remote cue of an e-collar…without confusing your dog. This video will go over using the points of contact developed during the Foundation stage to be able to off lead heel your dog, handle your dog in the field, begin having your dog honor another dog’s point, and begin to steady your dog up on birdwork. Also included in the video are tips and insight from Delmar Smith. This video is the fourth step in naturally developing a bird dog that is a pleasure to be around. We suggest beginning the development of your bird dog with Puppy Development I “Setting Your Pup Up For Success,” Puppy Development II “Introduction to the Field,” and then begin formal training with The Silent Command System I “Foundation Training.”
